  • 1 (32 ounce) carton low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 ½ cups cubed cooked ham
  • 1 cup dried lentils
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Direction for making Ham and Lentil Soup

  1. In an Instant Pot or Crock Pot Stir chicken broth, water, carrots, celery, onion, lentils, garlic, and red wine vinegar . Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1/2 an hour or till the carrots become soft.
  2. Remove ham bone. To broth, add the lentils, celery ,onions and seasonings; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until lentils are tender about 30-40 minutes.
  3. Coarsely chop and Add the ham, sausage and parsley to soup; heat through.
