Polar Bear Shot, After Eight or Peppermint Paddy is a mint chocolate cocktail that tastes like a York Peppermint Pattie or an After Eight wafer. It is usually made from crème de cacao and peppermint schnapps, although crème de menthe is a popular substitute. It’s an excellent shot for winter parties. You can add Vodka for additional Kick.

Method for preparing Polar Bear Shot
- Pour ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Shake and strain it in shot glass.
- serve in the prettiest shot glass you can find.
- Sip or throw back and follow with a Group Nap.
Keep the shot glass in the freezer Before mix up the shot. It is better to use and you get best results.
Dark crème de cacao is like dark rum in color and tends to taste more like dark chocolate. Chocolate liqueurs like Godiva are creamy brown and have more of a milk chocolate taste.
Peppermint schnapps give you higher alcohol content with better shot. It also gives you additional mint flavor.
If you use Creme de menthe the Polar Bear shot will be green.
How strong is Polar Bear Shot?
It depends on the alcohol variety used. Alcohol percentage changes the strength. If Vodka is used it will have net 17% of volume of the shot.
Can Creme de menthe replace Peppermint Schnapps?
Essentially the flavor is same. But both are different in usage. If you use Creme de menthe your shot will be green. Also Peppermint Schnapps has higher alcohol content and you can use it according to your goal.
