  •  1 teaspoon baking powder
  •  1 3/4 cups fat-skimmed chicken broth
  •  1 can (15 oz.) refried beans
  •  2 cups shredded cabbage
  •  1/2 cup tomato or green tomatillo salsa
  •  1/4 cup crumbled cotija or feta cheese(Get here)
  •  1/4 cup nonfat or reduced-fat sour cream
  •  Salt and pepper

If you want a Gluten Free Huaraches you can use Maseca which is safe. You may use this flour for making tasty empanadas, tamales or tortillas

Directions for making Huaraches Food Recipe

  1. In a bowl, mix masa flour, baking powder, salt, and broth and fold it well until dough holds together well by adding additional water if necessary.
  2. Divide dough into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a 6-inch-long log on a sheet of waxed paper. Press each log into a 1/8-inch-thick oval disc, about 4 X 8 inches. ( stack with waxed paper, wrap airtight, and refrigerate up to 2 hours.)
  3. Now place the frying pan and heat with Medium heat. When it is hot start frying each the pat of dough till its light brown. Use a wide spatula to flip it.
  4. Since the total dough is divided into 4 you should divide all the toppings into 4 portions each. Spread the beans over the huaraches. Cover it with chicken toppings. Cook it for another 2-3 minutes and transfer it to plates.
  5. Now its time to garnish with your toppings. You can toss these Mexican huaraches food with shredded cabbage, salsa, cheese, sour cream, salt, and pepper to taste.
