Vietnamese Fish Sauce is one of the important member of Vietnamese Cooking. It’s in all the Items and hence also known as “Dipping Sauce”. And by the way “Nước Chấm” means Sauce. This dipping sauce full of flavor and delicious! It’s tangy from the fresh lime juice, and has varied amount of sweetness. Restaurants use some level of sweetness and home made use different amount of sweetness.
The Modern Fish is made of Anchovies and Sea salt. But Traditional Fish sauce are made in different way. The fill the barrels with water, anchovies and Sea Salt and allow it to ferment for 3months to 2 years. These well fermented sauce is rich in omega fatty acids.

- Mix Sugar in a bowl of water. You can warm the water for better mixing.
- Add required quantity of lime juice.
- Add fish sauce slowly into to bowl till the you get suitable taste.
- Topup with garlic and chilies if you wish to add.
How long can we keep?
After preparation we can keep it for upto 2 weeks in refrigerator. Since it has high content salt nothing will happen.
